Verizon has launched aggressive holiday discounts on its wireless plans, sparking concerns among analysts about a potential price war in the U.S. telecom market. The carrier’s promotions include deep cuts on its Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus, and Unlimited Ultra plans, offering multi-line deals that undercut comparable packages from T-Mobile and AT&T.
Industry experts note that Verizon’s move could force competitors into similar discounts, compressing profit margins across the sector. Analysts also point out that while the promotions may boost subscriber numbers in the short term, sustained discounting could pressure average revenue per user (ARPU) industry-wide.
Verizon says the pricing strategy is aimed at providing value to customers while supporting long-term engagement through higher-tier plans and optional services. However, with the holidays approaching, analysts are closely watching whether rivals will respond, potentially triggering a full-scale price war in the U.S. wireless market.
