The Samsung Z Tri-Fold officially showcased for the first time just weeks ago is finally moving closer to its full reveal. While Samsung has kept most details under wraps, new reports from major Korean news outlets suggest that everything will become official on December 5, when Samsung is expected to fully unveil the device in South Korea.
This won’t be a large Galaxy Unpacked event; instead, it’s said to be a smaller, local announcement focused entirely on Samsung’s most ambitious foldable yet. Still, this date lines up with multiple trustworthy sources, hinting that the world’s first major triple-folding phone is almost ready to hit the market.
Limited Markets, Premium Price
Don’t expect a global rollout at least not initially. Current leaks suggest that the Samsung Z Tri-Fold will only be available in a few “major” markets, including South Korea, China, Singapore, and the UAE. Unfortunately, chances for a US or European release appear slim for now.
As for pricing, it’s exactly what you would expect from a futuristic device like this: expensive. Korean industry insiders predict a starting price between 3 million and 4 million won (around $2,045 to $2,725). Another major Korean publication suggests an even rounder estimate of $3,000, or roughly 4.4 million won. With a launch in this niche and a shipment target of only 20,000–30,000 units, Samsung is clearly positioning the Tri-Fold as a showcase of its technological muscle rather than a mainstream bestseller.
Key Specs Finally Taking Shape
Only a few specifications are confirmed through leaks, but they paint a picture of an extremely advanced device:
- 10-inch main display (unfolded)
- 6.5-inch external display
- 5,600mAh battery
- 4.2mm thickness when unfolded
- 14mm thickness when folded
These numbers align with earlier rumors and recent leaked images. The thickness is especially notable4.2mm unfolded matches the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s sleek profile, while 14mm folded is impressively slim for a triple-folding form factor. For comparison, Huawei’s Mate XTs Ultimate, its closest competitor, also comes in at 14mm folded and features a similar 5,600mAh battery.
However, Samsung may have a durability advantage. Unlike Huawei’s design, which folds inward and outward, the Samsung Z Tri-Fold reportedly folds inward twice. This approach could offer better protection for the main display, though it may also contribute to the device’s high price.
Will the Samsung Z Tri-Fold reshape the foldable market overnight? Probably not at a price hovering around $3,000 and with such limited availability. But that might not be Samsung’s goal. This device appears to be more of a statement piece, a demonstration of engineering and innovation, and possibly a warm-up act before the industry sees what Apple brings with its first foldable.
What will truly matter is durability, multitasking capability, and how useful a triple-folding 10-inch device can be in everyday life. If Samsung gets those factors right, the Tri-Fold could lay the foundation for a new category even if only a few people can buy it at first.
