Samsung may be developing a new software platform called Galaxy OS, but the tipster behind the rumor says One UI isn’t being retired. X user Phonefuturist claimed that Samsung is exploring deeper AI integration and a stronger partnership with Google. When asked whether Samsung would completely revamp One UI, he replied that it “would still be One UI” and said his sources used “Galaxy OS” to describe the software. Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of this.
| Claim | Status |
| A platform called “Galaxy OS” | Reported by one tipster |
| Based on Android | Reported |
| Debut with the Galaxy S28 series in 2028 | Reported in later coverage citing the tipster |
| One UI replaced | Disputed by the tipster himself |
| Paid third-party services | Mentioned, no details |
| Official confirmation | None |
Reports since then disagree on what Galaxy OS actually is. Some say it is a separate, Android-based project developed in parallel with One UI, with deep AI integration, while the tipster’s own reply suggests it may simply be a name his sources use for the next big One UI release. One secondhand report even names the Galaxy Z Fold 9 as the first device, which doesn’t fit the 2028 timing. The 2028 date would also be roughly ten years after One UI debuted in 2018, but that is an observation by outlets rather than a claim from the leaker.
The Google angle is plausible but unproven. Samsung already works with Google on AI, including AI smart glasses shown at I/O 2026, and the tipster also mentioned possible paid third-party services without naming any or giving details. Nothing suggests One UI itself would become a paid service.
Treat it cautiously. The tipster’s track record is unknown, no other source has corroborated the claim, and there are no screenshots or documents behind it. The nearer-term picture is clearer: One UI 9 is still rolling out, One UI 9.5 is expected with the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027, and a separate leaker has teased “unprecedented” changes for One UI 10.
