Realme has officially confirmed that its next Neo-series flagship, the Realme Neo 8, will be launched in China on January 12, 2026. The company shared the launch date via its Weibo account, teasing key hardware and design details ahead of the full reveal.
The launch event is scheduled to start at about 2:30 pm local time (12 pm IST), and the phone is expected to go on sale soon afterward.
Flagship-Level Performance
The Realme Neo 8 is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, making it one of the most powerful phones in Realme’s lineup and placing it firmly in the flagship-performance segment.Â
A Geekbench listing has already surfaced for the device (model number RMX8899), showing 16 GB of RAM, Android 16, and strong benchmark scores that indicate flagship-grade performance.

Display & Design
Realme confirmed that the Neo 8 will feature a Samsung Display panel with up to 165 Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth animations and gaming performance.
Official teasers show the phone in a Cyber Purple colourway with a transparent rear panel that partially reveals internal elements, a design direction similar to devices from other brands with transparent accents.
The Neo 8 also includes Realme’s signature Awakening Halo RGB lighting around the camera area, giving the handset a distinctive aesthetic.
Camera & Imaging
Leaks and early reports suggest the camera setup will include a 50 MP main sensor and possibly a periscope telephoto lens offering high-magnification zoom, along with additional cameras for ultrawide shots.
A 16 MP front camera is also expected.
Battery & Charging
The Realme Neo 8 is rumoured to pack a massive 8,000 mAh-class battery paired with 80 W fast charging support, which should provide long endurance and relatively quick top-ups given the large capacity.
Other Key Features (Leaked / Expected)
From leaks and early listings:
- Display: ~6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED, 1.5K resolution, up to 165 Hz refresh rate
- Memory/Storage: Wide range of options likely up to 24 GB RAM and 1 TB storage
- Build: Metal frame with glass back, IP68/IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance
- Security: Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor
- Connectivity: Likely includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.x support
- Software: Android 16 with Realme UI (likely Realme UI 7)
Positioning and Expected Markets
The Neo 8 succeeds the Realme Neo 7, which launched in China in December 2024. It is expected to debut as a high-end flagship alternative in Realme’s portfolio, combining top-tier performance, a premium display, and flagship-class battery capacity.
There are rumours that the phone may be released in global markets possibly under a different name like Realme GT 8 later in 2026, following its China debut.
