Samsung’s stable One UI 9 update, based on Android 17, has started rolling out to U.S. unlocked models of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The U.S. release arrives around October 2, following the initial stable release in South Korea on September 28.
The latest U.S. firmware builds reported for the update are listed below.
| Device | U.S. One UI 9 build |
| Galaxy S25 | S931USQUCDZIF |
| Galaxy S25+ | S936USQUCDZIF |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra | S938USQUCDZIF |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7 | F966USQUCCZIH |
| Galaxy Z Flip 7 | F766USQUCCZIH |
The initial stable build for these devices carries the September 5, 2026 security patch, so this is primarily the major Android 17/One UI 9 upgrade rather than an October security update. Download size depends on where you’re coming from. Beta users on the S25 series received a package of around 535MB, while those upgrading directly from One UI 8.5 get a much larger file; the Galaxy S25 Ultra update from One UI 8.5 was reported at around 3.85GB. The Z Fold 7 beta-to-stable package was also around 535MB, and anyone coming from One UI 8.5 should expect a substantially larger download there too.
The headline addition is My FanCam, which automatically follows a selected person in a recorded video and keeps them centered in the frame. Now Brief has been expanded to offer more contextual information and suggestions throughout the day, and a new Call Brief feature provides summaries and useful information around calls. Creative Studio can now suggest image-generation ideas based on upcoming events, such as a themed image or greeting for an approaching birthday.
On the security side, Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to flag potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts by apps to access permissions in the background. Samsung lists the feature as supported on the S25 series and the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. Scam Detection, which helps identify potential scam calls, varies by country, language, device and software version, with Samsung specifically naming Japan, Canada and India among the markets receiving it. Beyond that, One UI 9 brings a more customizable Quick Panel and improvements to Samsung Notes, DeX, accessibility and location privacy indicators.
The path to this stable release was short. Samsung opened the One UI 9 beta for the S25, S25+, S25 Ultra and S25 FE in September, in selected markets including India, South Korea, the UK and the U.S. The Z Fold 7 beta launched the same month in the U.S., UK, India and South Korea. The stable version first reached South Korean beta participants on September 28, with the Fold 7 build F966NKSUCCZIH, before the U.S. build F966USQUCCZIH began rolling out.
The rollout is phased, so not every U.S. device will see the update at exactly the same time, and carrier and model differences can also affect availability. Samsung’s official One UI 9 announcement says the update will gradually expand to additional Galaxy devices and markets, which makes this a staged deployment rather than a single global release. Samsung began the broader rollout with the Galaxy S26 series on September 16, after One UI 9 debuted on the newer Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8.
