Google Rolls Out “Thinking with 3 Pro” AI Reasoning in Search & Gemini

Thinking with 3 Pro

Google is expanding advanced AI capabilities with a new “Thinking with 3 Pro” mode, rolling out as part of its Gemini 3 Pro push in AI Mode across Google Search and the Gemini app. This new feature explicitly surfaces the AI’s step-by-step reasoning process in real time, offering users insight into how complex answers are generated rather than presenting only final responses, a major shift toward transparent AI interaction.

• Integration in AI Mode: “Thinking with 3 Pro” is now available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in AI Mode on Search in nearly 120 countries, selectable from the model dropdown. It leverages Gemini 3 Pro’s reasoning capabilities to handle nuanced queries, breaking complex problems into logical steps and presenting more structured, explanatory outputs.
• Real-Time Reasoning: Unlike typical black-box AI responses, this mode shows intermediate reasoning and logic flow as Google’s model works through a query, giving users visibility into how results are built similar to an “inner monologue” or cognitive trail. This can help with educational use cases, deep research, planning tasks and understanding multifaceted topics.
• Gemini App Support: In addition to Search, Gemini 3 Pro and “Thinking” models have been incorporated into the Gemini app on Android, iOS and web, letting users choose between standard (“Fast”) or advanced reasoning modes for chat and multimodal tasks.
• Powerful Reasoning Foundation: Gemini 3 Pro underpins this capability the latest version of Google’s AI model family with enhanced multimodal understanding, superior reasoning benchmarks and agentic workflows. “Thinking with 3 Pro” builds on these strengths to give users a clearer picture of how complex answers are generated step by step rather than simply getting a final summary.
• Availability Limits: While “Thinking with 3 Pro” is available broadly in Search’s AI Mode for paid subscribers, usage may be subject to caps depending on subscription tier and plan. Free users may still access standard reasoning modes but with more limited transparency.

This rollout represents one of the first major consumer-facing examples of transparent, step-by-step reasoning in large language models at scale, aligning with trends across AI toward explainability and user-visible logic paths for complex tasks
