Galaxy S25 FE and S24 FE Quietly Get AirDrop Support

Galaxy S24 FE

Samsung has expanded Quick Share’s “Share with Apple devices” feature to the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S24 FE, letting both phones swap files directly with iPhones, iPads, and Macs using Apple’s AirDrop protocol. Samsung Community users started reporting the option showing up on October 7, though Samsung hasn’t announced it formally.

The two phones got there differently. On the S25 FE, the feature arrived alongside its stable One UI 9 update, which is only just rolling out. The S24 FE is more interesting; it skipped AirDrop support on One UI 8.5 despite early expectations, and still hasn’t received One UI 9, yet users report the option appearing anyway. That points to a server-side change delivered through a Google Play system update rather than a Samsung firmware release, so availability may still vary by region and software version.

To send from the Galaxy to an iPhone, pick a photo or file, tap Share, choose Quick Share, enable “Share with Apple devices” if it isn’t on already, and select the iPhone which needs AirDrop set to “Everyone for 10 Minutes,” since Google’s implementation doesn’t currently work with the Contacts Only setting. The iPhone owner then accepts the incoming request. Going the other direction works too: set the Galaxy’s Quick Share visibility to Everyone for 10 minutes, then AirDrop to it from the iPhone and accept on the Galaxy.

One thing worth being precise about: this isn’t Samsung installing AirDrop. Google built compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop protocol into Quick Share, first on the Pixel 10 series late last year, and Samsung then brought the same capability to its own phones starting with the Galaxy S26 series in March. Samsung itself just calls the setting “Share with Apple devices.” Google says transfers go directly peer-to-peer without routing through its servers, keep full photo and video quality, and still require the recipient to accept before anything lands on their phone. The FE phones now join a list that already includes the S26, S25, and S24 series, several Z Fold and Flip models, and older flagships like the Galaxy S22 and S23.
