Apple has officially rolled out iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2, delivering a mix of new features, refinements, and important security fixes for supported iPhones and iPads worldwide.
On the iPhone side, iOS 26.2 introduces several quality-of-life improvements, including the option to trigger an alarm when a reminder is due, new Lock Screen Liquid Glass clock opacity controls, and enhanced AirDrop codes that allow temporary sharing with non-contacts. Apple has also updated core apps, with Apple Music gaining better offline lyrics handling and Podcasts adding auto-generated chapters. Users in select regions also get expanded Safety Alerts and Live Translation via AirPods.
iPadOS 26.2 focuses heavily on usability, restoring familiar drag-and-drop multitasking gestures for Split View and Slide Over after user feedback. The update also brings the same Music and Podcasts improvements as iOS, along with refinements to Freeform and gaming features.
Both updates include a large set of security patches, fixing more than 20 vulnerabilities, including WebKit issues that Apple says may have been actively exploited in limited cases. This makes iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 particularly important updates from a security standpoint.
The updates are now available via Settings > General > Software Update on compatible devices, with Apple recommending all users install them to benefit from the latest features and protections.
