Apple already showed off a reworked StandBy mode for the iPhone Duo, one that works on either display when the phone is left partially folded, even without a charger nearby. Code from iOS 27.1 now points to five more views Apple hasn’t said a word about: Home Camera, Home Modular, Flow, Fade, and Snoopy. Leaker pdfu shared the find on X, saying the names turned up in localization strings tied to an internal app called Rushmore while digging through the iOS 27.1 simulator.
Home Camera is the one worth paying attention to. It’s reportedly built to show either a single smart-home camera feed or a grid of up to nine at once, turning a partially folded Duo sitting on a counter or nightstand into a makeshift security monitor. Home Modular sits alongside it, less clearly defined in the code so far, but seemingly aimed at surfacing Home app controls or accessories in a similarly modular layout.
Flow and Fade are the vaguer pair. pdfu reportedly got Flow running on the current renderer, suggesting it leans on some kind of responsive, reactive artwork rather than being just a placeholder name, though what triggers the animation isn’t clear yet. Fade barely shows up in the code at all beyond its name. Snoopy rounds out the five, expected to work similarly to Apple’s existing Snoopy screensaver on tvOS.
The same dig also turned up something bigger than five new faces: a StandBy customization screen that works a lot like Apple Watch face editing, swiping and scrolling through colors, styles, fonts, layouts, and widgets. MacRumors has separately pointed to five widget layout options, StandBy, Stacked, Top, Middle, and Bottom, for compatible clock faces, hinting that StandBy on Duo is shaping up to be far more tunable than what Apple actually demoed at the unveiling.
That demo already covered a decent lineup on its own, Analog, Digital, Classic Calendar, Weather, Photos with Shared Album support, Memories, and Modular. These five would sit on top of that list rather than replace anything. Worth remembering, though, that none of this is confirmed. It’s all sitting in pre-release code, so names could change, features could get delayed, or some could simply get cut before shipping. With pre-orders starting October 16 and the Duo reaching customers October 23, there’s still a few weeks left for more of this to leak, or for Apple to quietly finalize what actually makes the cut.
