Samsung Thailand’s official newsroom announcement had originally listed October for the Galaxy S23 FE’s One UI 9 rollout, alongside September 21 for the Galaxy S26 series and September 28 for the Galaxy S25 series and Z Fold 7/Flip 7. That October mention has now been quietly changed to “later this year,” and SammyGuru independently confirmed the same edit on September 24. SamMobile is calling this a possible delay rather than a confirmed one, since October technically still falls under “later this year” and Samsung hasn’t explicitly said the update is being pushed back.
The change matters because One UI 9 is meant to be the Galaxy S23 FE’s fourth and final major OS upgrade under Samsung’s original four-generation update promise. The phone launched on One UI 5.1 and has already picked up One UI 6, 7, and 8.5, so Android 17/One UI 9 would close that commitment out. Samsung had already confirmed development was underway well before this: SamMobile spotted a One UI 9 firmware file for the S23 FE on Samsung’s servers back in July, so this isn’t a question of whether the phone is getting the update, just when.
Samsung hasn’t given a reason for the wording change, and there’s no confirmation it’s tied to bugs or testing issues specifically. It’s worth noting the broader One UI 9 rollout has shifted around too — the Galaxy S26 series’ expansion beyond Korea was initially pegged for September 21, then moved to September 28 in Thailand’s own messaging, with some date details since removed. That’s enough to suggest Samsung may be adjusting its overall rollout pace, though nothing officially links that to the S23 FE specifically. It’s also worth remembering these dates come from Samsung Thailand alone and were never guaranteed to apply worldwide.
