Apple Seeds iOS 27.2 Beta With New Siri AI Languages and Health App

Apple released iOS 27.2 beta 2 to developers on September 21, just a week after beta 1 arrived on September 16. What makes this cycle unusual is that Apple skipped an iOS 27.1 beta entirely and jumped straight to 27.2, even though iOS 27 itself had only gone public on September 14. Apple says iOS 27.1 is still coming, but only because the upcoming iPhone Duo ships with it on October 23. That effectively splits Apple’s software development into two parallel tracks: iOS 27.1 carrying iPhone Duo-specific features, and iOS 27.2 carrying the broader set of changes meant for the rest of the iPhone lineup. Siri AI gets more languages

One of the biggest changes found in iOS 27.2 beta 1 is expanded language support for Siri AI, Apple’s newer conversational assistant. The beta adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, languages Apple had already said were coming in October. Siri AI was one of the headline features of iOS 27, but its language rollout lagged behind the initial English-only launch, so this beta suggests 27.2 is the update that closes that gap for a chunk of Apple’s international user base.

A major Health app redesign

The Health app gets one of its biggest overhauls yet in this beta, restructured around three sections: Insights, Longevity, and Browse. Insights is meant to turn raw health data into something more digestible rather than just displaying numbers, while Longevity leans into tracking metrics over time. Apple is testing features like Health Age, Readiness scores, personalized health insights, Health Assessment, longevity-related data, and Apple Intelligence-powered health guidance. For now, the redesigned experience is limited to English in the US, and Apple’s own release notes flag a known issue where personalized summaries in the Insights tab may not generate correctly yet.

Apple TV profiles arrive on iPhone

iOS 27.2 beta 1 also brings Apple TV profiles to the iPhone’s Apple TV app, letting users create and switch between profiles, including child accounts, directly from their phone. This was previously mostly an Apple TV and tvOS feature, so bringing it to iOS closes another cross-device gap.

Dual Capture comes to Group FaceTime

A newer addition is Dual Capture during Group FaceTime calls, which lets users capture and use multiple camera perspectives during a session, expanding what’s possible with the iPhone’s camera in a call.

Smaller Apple Music and Podcasts tweaks

There are a few interface refinements too. In Apple Podcasts, “Up Next” has been renamed to “New Episodes,” Continue Playing has moved directly below it, and episode lists now use color-matched backgrounds. Apple Music, meanwhile, has adjusted how much of an app icon’s color carries over into interface labels. None of these are headline features on their own, but they’re part of Apple’s ongoing visual refinement of both apps.

An App Tracking Transparency change for the EU

Buried in Apple’s official iOS 27.2 developer release notes is a regulatory change that wasn’t obvious from the consumer feature list. App Tracking Transparency now supports an alternative, expanded prompt along with yearly re-prompting for users in the EU. Apple says the alternative prompt is specifically required for users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania, a detail that matters more to developers targeting European users than to everyday iPhone owners.

Two delayed Apple Intelligence features could return

Two Apple Intelligence features that were pulled before iOS 27’s public release could make a comeback in this cycle: proactive Messages suggestions, and the ability to use AI to automatically fix compromised or weak passwords. MacRumors has reported both could arrive as part of the iOS 27.2 development cycle, though Apple hasn’t confirmed either will definitely ship in this specific version, so they’re best treated as possible rather than confirmed additions.

What about iPhone Duo?

Apple’s developer site is explicit that the iPhone Duo launches October 23 running iOS 27.1, not 27.2. iOS 27.1 will carry features built specifically for the foldable’s dual-screen design, while Xcode 27.1 is expected to add the necessary development support later this month. Reported iOS 27.1 features include new layouts across the two displays, a vertical dock, a vertical Dynamic Island, side-by-side multitasking, and new Camera app capabilities exclusive to the Duo. In other words, iOS 27.1 hasn’t disappeared just because Apple started testing 27.2 first, it’s simply being held back until the hardware it’s built for actually ships.

Beta 2: what’s changed

As of September 21, iOS 27.2 beta 2 is out, arriving roughly a week after beta 1. So far, this looks like a continuation of the testing and stability cycle rather than a beta that introduces a major new consumer-facing feature of its own. Apple’s release notes and early reports haven’t turned up anything beta 2-exclusive yet, so it’s worth waiting until the build has been more thoroughly examined before attaching any specific new feature to it.
