Samsung’s July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event is shaping up to be the most significant foldable announcement the company has ever made. Reports indicate Samsung is preparing three devices simultaneously the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, and a commercial tri-fold smartphone marking Samsung’s entry into a new foldable category it has been circling for years.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to refine rather than redesign thinner body, reduced display crease, improved hinge durability, larger inner AMOLED display with better brightness, and deeper Galaxy AI integration. A next-generation flagship processor handles performance, with Snapdragon in select markets and Exynos elsewhere depending on region.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 continues Samsung’s compact foldable approach; possible upgrades include a larger cover display, better battery capacity, improved cameras, and a more durable hinge. It remains Samsung’s entry point into the foldable space for buyers who want a smaller footprint.
The real headline is the tri-fold. Two hinges, a tablet-sized unfolded display, advanced multitasking features, and premium flagship positioning Samsung has shown multi-fold concepts before, but a commercial launch would put it in direct competition with Huawei’s Mate XT series. If Samsung ships this at Unpacked, it immediately becomes the most interesting foldable conversation of 2026.
All three devices are expected to run Android 17 with One UI 9, specifically optimized for larger foldable displays and productivity workflows.
Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the date, device names, specifications, or pricing.
