The Xiaomi 17T series officially launched globally yesterday and calling it a “budget flagship” no longer does it justice. This is a proper premium mid-range phone with Leica cameras across both models, a battery that Xiaomi claims will last two full days, and hardware that pushes the T-series further than any previous generation.
Xiaomi’s own marketing calls it “the biggest T Series upgrade yet.” For once, that’s not just a press release talking point.

The standard 17T carries a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon cell, a notable jump from the 5,500mAh in the Xiaomi 15T paired with 67W fast charging. Xiaomi is claiming up to two days of real-world battery life for most users. Some critics online have flagged that 67W feels slow given older Xiaomi phones offered 120W, which is a fair point. But the trade-off is a battery large enough that you’re reaching for the charger far less often in the first place.
The Pro takes it further: 7,000mAh with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging is one of the largest batteries Xiaomi has ever shipped in an international device.
Both models carry Leica branding throughout: 50MP main, 50MP 5x periscope telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide on the rear, plus a 32MP front camera. The 5x periscope is the standout addition. Previously reserved for higher-end flagships, it now lands on the standard 17T giving mid-range buyers genuine optical zoom with Leica colour science and portrait tuning baked in. That’s a meaningful upgrade for the price.

The Pro uses a larger Light Fusion 950 sensor (1/1.31″) versus the standard model’s Light Fusion 800 (1/1.55″), so low-light performance will have a clear edge on the Pro. Both also get the new Leica Live Moment feature, which records short video clips alongside Xiaomi’s take on Apple’s Live Photos.
The 17T runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra, a capable upper mid-range chip built on a 4nm process, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The display is a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED at 120Hz with peak brightness up to 3,500 nits and TÜV Rheinland eye protection certification. Vapor chamber cooling handles thermals during extended gaming sessions.

The Pro steps up to the Dimensity 9500 on a 3nm node, a larger 6.83-inch panel at 144Hz, and Wi-Fi 7 versus Wi-Fi 6E on the standard model.
Both phones ship with HyperOS 3 on top of Android 16, backed by four years of OS updates and six years of security patches, a commitment that matches what Samsung and Google are offering at this price point. HyperAI features include AI Writing, Circle to Search, Speech Recognition, and full Gemini integration. Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers are standard across both models.
European pricing starts at €749 for the 17T (12GB + 256GB) and €899 for the Pro. India buyers get the standard 17T on June 4, marking the T-series’ return to the market after a multi-year absence.
