Remember the Vivo S series? Aggressive pricing, gaming-focused hardware, big batteries, strong performance for the money. It was a genuine mid-range favourite before vivo quietly retired it and reorganised its lineup around the V, T, Y, and iQOO brands. Now, according to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, vivo might be bringing it back.
The rumour claims a revived S series would target the performance and value mid-range segment sitting above the budget Y series but below the premium X lineup. Think Dimensity chipsets, high-refresh OLED displays, large batteries, and fast charging tuned for younger, performance-hungry buyers.
The obvious question is whether vivo actually needs another mid-range series. It already has iQOO handling gaming phones and the T series covering performance mid-rangers in markets like India. Adding a S series risks creating brand confusion rather than market clarity. That concern is legitimate and the Android community has already raised it loudly.
What makes the rumour interesting is the competitive pressure. Xiaomi, Realme, OnePlus, and Samsung are all fighting hard in this space right now. A focused, value-driven S series could give vivo a sharper tool for that specific fight.
Nothing confirmed. No specs, no dates, no pricing. Just a rumour worth watching.
