Verizon and T-Mobile have launched last-minute “free phone” promotions for the holiday season, stepping up competition just weeks before the end of the year and giving customers a fresh reason to switch carriers or add new lines.
At T-Mobile, the headline deal lets customers get up to four free iPhone 17 units when they add four new lines and sign up for an Essentials plan at roughly $25 per line/month with AutoPay. The phones are effectively free through 24 months of bill credits, and notably the offer doesn’t require a trade-in, a rare perk that makes it easy for users to keep their current devices and still benefit from the deal. T-Mobile is also promoting similar “free phone + accessory” bundles on devices such as the Google Pixel 10, which can be paired with Pixel Buds at minimal net cost when added to qualifying plans.
Verizon’s holiday lineup is equally aggressive. The carrier is offering free flagship phones such as the Google Pixel 10 or Samsung Galaxy S25 when customers add a new line with an eligible unlimited plan, with credits applied over several billing cycles. Verizon has also rolled out multi-line offers that bundle four free devices including top tier models like the iPhone 17 Pro, Galaxy S25 or Pixel 10 Pro XL when customers activate four new lines on qualifying plans. Some Verizon deals sweeten the offer with bonus gift cards or additional credits.
Both promotions hinge on service commitments and monthly payments, with bill credits spread across 24–36 months, and customers must remain on the qualifying plan to receive the full value. These carriers’ moves come as part of a broader year-end marketing push to capture switchers and families looking to refresh multiple devices, and analysts say they could spark deeper promotional activity from rivals in the early months of 2026.
