Switching Between iPhone and Android Is About to Get Easier

In a rare collaboration, Google and Apple are reportedly working together to simplify switching between Android and iPhone, aiming to make the migration process smoother and more seamless for users on both platforms.

According to early details, the new system will be built directly into the initial device setup process, allowing users to transfer data when setting up a new phone, instead of relying only on separate apps like Move to iOS or Android Switch. The goal is to reduce friction and make cross-platform movement feel more natural.

The feature is currently being tested on the Android side through an early Canary build, while Apple is expected to enable its part of the system through an upcoming iOS developer beta. Once fully active on both platforms, users should be able to move their essential data more easily between ecosystems.

Although the complete list of supported data types has not been revealed yet, the collaboration suggests a broader and more reliable transfer experience than current solutions. There is no official timeline for a public rollout so far.

If this feature delivers as expected, it could significantly lower the barrier for users who want to switch between Android and iPhone, without the usual setup headaches.
