Samsung Z TriFold: The First Samsung Trifold Phone is Coming

Samsung TriFold

Samsung has officially confirmed that it is preparing to launch its first tri-fold smartphone, widely referred to as the Samsung Z TriFold or Samsung G Fold, by the end of 2025. This marks a major step forward in foldable technology, moving beyond the familiar dual-hinge designs of the Galaxy Z Fold series.

Samsung Confirms Launch Timeline

At a recent press briefing, TM Roh, the head of Samsung’s mobile division, revealed that the tri-fold phone is in its final stages of development. According to him, the device will be released “later this year,” pointing to a Q4 2025 launch. Reports also suggest that mass production will start around September, setting the stage for a holiday season debut.

Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold series, which opens like a book, the Samsung TriFold will use two hinges and three separate panels. This design allows the phone to fold twice, expanding into a display that is closer in size to a tablet.

Leaks suggest that the fully opened display could measure around 10 inches, while the cover screen may be about 6.5 to 7 inches. The folding style is expected to be inward, which will help protect the large flexible OLED panel when the device is closed.

Rumored Specifications

While Samsung has not shared full specifications, industry leaks provide a glimpse of what to expect:

  • Display: 10-inch OLED when fully opened, ~6.5-inch cover display
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite or Samsung’s most advanced chipset at the time
  • Camera System: Similar setup to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including a high-resolution main camera and multiple supporting lenses
  • Build: Possible titanium frame for added durability
  • Battery: Still unconfirmed, but likely smaller than Huawei’s Mate XT (5,600 mAh)
  • Software: One UI optimized for multitasking across three screens

The phone is also expected to support enhanced multitasking, with Samsung’s software allowing multiple apps to run seamlessly across the expanded screen.

Price and Availability

One of the biggest questions around the Samsung Z TriFold is its price. Early reports indicate that it could cost more than KRW 4 million (around USD 2,900), making it one of the most expensive smartphones Samsung has ever released.

Samsung may also limit its initial release to select markets before expanding globally. This strategy will help the company gauge demand for such a unique device. Exact pricing and availability for regions like Pakistan remain unclear, but if global rollout follows quickly, it could arrive in 2026.
