Samsung just confirmed a “Galaxy Event” for August 27, and while the invite is officially vague, it’s not hard to read between the lines. Samsung calls it the “newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family,” designed to bring S26-level camera and AI features to more people, alongside the latest One UI. Samsung hasn’t actually said “Galaxy S26 FE” anywhere in the announcement, but that phrasing lines up almost exactly with what a Fan Edition launch usually sounds like, and multiple reports are treating it as the clear expectation.
The event streams at 9 PM KST on August 27, which works out to 8 AM Eastern in the US, through Samsung.com and Samsung’s YouTube channel. This is actually Samsung’s third major hardware event this year, following the Galaxy S26 launch back in February and July’s Unpacked event covering the Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Flip8, and the new Watch lineup. Compared to those, August 27 looks like a smaller, single-product event rather than a full Unpacked show.

If the S26 FE is indeed what shows up, current leaks point to a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display at 120Hz, Samsung’s own Exynos 2500 chip, up to 8GB of RAM, and a triple rear camera setup. None of that is confirmed by Samsung yet. Pricing is the detail worth watching closest: reports suggest a $799 starting price, a jump from the Galaxy S25 FE’s $649, which would be about 23% more expensive if it holds. That’s a real price jump for a phone whose whole appeal has traditionally been offering flagship features at a lower cost.
Samsung’s own wording actually gives away more than it seems to. “Camera to AI” signals this phone is meant to carry the same Galaxy AI experience as the mainline S26 lineup, not a stripped-down budget alternative, which tracks with how Samsung’s positioned recent FE models. Whether that positioning still makes sense at a rumored $799 is the real question heading into the 27th.
