Samsung has officially introduced the beta of Samsung One UI 8.5, highlighting a major overhaul of Samsung Bixby as the centerpiece upgrade.
The company describes the new Bixby as a “conversational device agent.” It can now better understand natural language queries and contextual questions instead of relying on rigid voice commands. For example, users can ask why a certain behavior is happening on their phone, and Bixby will interpret the issue and guide or directly apply the appropriate settings changes.
A key improvement is Bixby’s ability to handle multi-step system adjustments automatically. Users no longer need to know the exact menu path inside Settings, as the assistant can navigate and apply changes on their behalf. This marks a notable evolution compared to the more command-based experience in Samsung One UI 8.0.
Beyond Bixby, One UI 8.5 appears to be a refinement-focused update rather than a major visual overhaul. Early information suggests the build emphasizes AI features, system polish, and under-the-hood improvements, likely preparing Samsung’s software for upcoming Galaxy flagships.
The beta has been announced through Samsung’s UK newsroom and is expected to roll out first to select flagship devices before expanding more widely later this year.
