Redmi Turbo 5 launches in China with Dimensity 8500-Ultra

Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Turbo 5 in China as part of its new Turbo 5 lineup, debuting alongside the more powerful Turbo 5 Max. The Redmi Turbo 5 is positioned as a performance-focused mid-range smartphone with strong endurance and premium-class hardware.

Core specs and performance

The Turbo 5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset built on a 4 nm process, offering smooth everyday performance and solid gaming capabilities in its segment. It is paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage for fast app loading and responsiveness.

The phone runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 on top and includes a flagship-derived 3D ice-sealed circulating cold pump cooling system and a “Rampage Engine” for better CPU/GPU/DDR frequency tuning under load.

Display and design

The Turbo 5 sports a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, high peak brightness and advanced dimming for eye comfort. The design features narrow bezels, a metal frame and a glass back panel.

Battery and charging

A large 7,560 mAh battery is a key highlight of the Turbo 5, providing excellent endurance, and it supports 100W wired fast charging along with 27W reverse wired charging letting the phone charge other devices.

Cameras

Imaging on the Turbo 5 includes a 50 MP Sony IMX882 main sensor with OIS/EIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide lens on the rear, capable of 4K video recording, plus a 20 MP front camera for selfies.

Durability and extras
The phone comes with quad-level dust and water resistance (IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K), stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.

Pricing and availability

In China, the Redmi Turbo 5 starts at around ¥1,999 (~$287) for the 12 GB + 256 GB model, with higher configurations up to ¥2,599 (~$375) for 16 GB + 512 GB. It’s already on sale following its January 29, 2026 launch.
