OpenAI has officially expanded its low-cost subscription tier, ChatGPT Go, to users around the globe. The plan was first introduced in India in August 2025 and is now available in more than 170 countries, giving users a cheaper way to access advanced AI features.
ChatGPT Go is priced at around $8 per month (with regional pricing) and includes access to GPT-5.2 Instant, along with 10× higher limits for messages, file uploads, and image generation compared to the free tier. Subscribers also get a larger memory and context window, allowing the assistant to retain more information across conversations.

At the same time, OpenAI confirmed a major shift in its business model: advertisements will begin testing inside ChatGPT in the coming weeks, starting in the United States. Ads will appear for users on the Free and ChatGPT Go tiers, while Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users will remain ad-free.
According to OpenAI, ads will be clearly labeled and shown separately from AI responses, typically placed below answers when relevant. The company says advertising will not influence ChatGPT’s replies and that user data will not be sold to advertisers. Sensitive topics such as health and politics will also be excluded from ad placement.
