Ookla Finds Verizon Trailing T-Mobile

According to Ookla’s latest report, U.S. Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) speeds are slowing as more users adopt the service. The report shows that median FWA download speeds declined in 2025 across major carriers due to growing network load and seasonal factors like foliage affecting signal strength.

Among the big three, T‑Mobile leads with a median download speed of 209 Mbps, nearly double AT&T’s 105 Mbps, while Verizon trails at 138 Mbps. The slowdown highlights early signs of network strain as FWA becomes a more popular alternative to traditional broadband.

Analysts note that carriers may need to expand capacity and optimize networks to maintain performance. Despite the slowdown, FWA continues to be a viable option for households lacking fiber connectivity, and future 5G improvements are expected to help boost speeds.
