Nothing confirms no Phone (4) in 2026

Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the company will not launch a traditional flagship phone the Nothing Phone (4) in 2026, breaking from the usual annual release cadence seen across the industry. Instead, the current Nothing Phone (3) will remain the brand’s flagship throughout the year, while the incoming Phone (4a) series is being positioned to deliver a near-flagship experience at a lower price point.

In a recent video shared on Nothing’s official YouTube channel, Pei explained that the company doesn’t want to “just churn out a new flagship every year for the sake of it,” and prefers to make upgrades significant and meaningful rather than follow predictable release cycles.

With the flagship gap this year, Nothing’s mid-range Phone (4a) series including the standard Phone (4a) and potentially a Phone (4a) Pro will take center stage in the lineup. Pei said the Phone (4a) will see noticeable improvements over the previous 3a generation, with upgrades expected in design, display, camera capabilities and overall performance, and could approach “flagship-killer” territory despite its mid-tier classification.

The decision comes as Nothing continues to adapt its strategy amid industry pricing pressures and rising component costs, including higher memory prices, which Pei cited as one reason for rethinking traditional product cycles. Nothing also plans to expand into audio products, retail presence (including new stores), and software development, such as enhancements to Nothing OS 4 and its Essential apps initiative.

Regulatory listings have already shown prototypes of the upcoming Phone (4a) devices, hinting at a Q1 2026 launch window ahead of broader availability.
