iQOO has finally begun rolling out the stable OriginOS 6 update based on Android 16 for the iQOO 12, confirming earlier timelines and marking one of the biggest software upgrades the device has received since launch. The update arrives after weeks of public beta testing and is now reaching users in phases.
According to user reports and community posts, several iQOO 12 units have started receiving the stable build through an OTA package of around 4GB, bringing the new OriginOS 6 interface, updated animations, and better performance tuning. Some regions are still on the trial rollout, meaning availability may vary depending on market and device batch.

The update introduces the revamped “Origin Smooth Engine”, aiming to improve system fluidity, app launch speeds, and animation smoothness. The UI also gets a complete makeover with translucent elements, redesigned icons, and new lock-screen customization tools. Features like Origin Island, enhanced widgets, smarter AI utilities, and improved privacy controls are also part of the Android 16-based build.
Early adopters report noticeably smoother performance and better battery life after updating, especially on clean installations. However, some users coming from the beta build mention occasional quirks such as brightness jumps, notification shade issues, and minor UI glitches. Most problems seem tied to trial builds rather than the final stable release.
The iQOO 12 was originally scheduled for a mid-November update window, following the iQOO 13. With the stable rollout now appearing for more users, a wider global release is expected over the next few weeks. iQOO’s phased deployment means not all devices will receive the update at the same time.
