Apple’s upcoming iPhone Air 2 is now rumored to bring a notable camera upgrade, with recent leaks suggesting the ultra-thin iPhone could finally feature a dual rear camera setup. If accurate, this would address one of the main criticisms of the first-generation iPhone Air, which launched with a single rear camera.
According to supply-chain reports and early design leaks, Apple is testing a two-camera system, likely pairing the main sensor with an ultra-wide lens. This would bring the Air lineup closer to Apple’s standard iPhone models in terms of photography versatility, while still keeping the device focused on a slim and lightweight design.
Leaked renders indicate Apple may slightly rework the camera module to accommodate the second sensor, which could result in a revised rear design. However, integrating dual cameras into an ultra-thin chassis is said to be one of the reasons behind reported development delays.
Because of these changes, the iPhone Air 2 is now expected to miss the 2026 iPhone cycle, with some sources pointing to a spring 2027 launch instead. Apple is also rumored to be reconsidering the phone’s pricing strategy, possibly lowering the entry price to make the Air series more competitive after mixed reception of the original model.
