Apple’s upcoming iOS 26.2 update is set to deliver two notable upgrades for CarPlay, aiming to refine the in-car messaging and dashboard experience. The Release Candidate is already out for testers, with the public rollout expected between December 8 and December 16.
The first new addition is the ability to unpin messages directly from CarPlay, a control previously limited to iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This gives users more flexibility to organize conversations on the go and helps keep the Messages app cleaner while driving.
Apple is also expanding CarPlay’s widget system. Some users running the RC are seeing support for up to three widget stacks on the home interface instead of the usual two. This means drivers can now keep multiple quick-glance widgets like weather, music, and calendar visible at the same time.
