
Instagram has started rolling out a new “Your Algorithm” feature for Reels, giving users direct control over the kind of content they want to see. The update adds a small icon at the top-right corner of the Reels tab, opening a dashboard that lists the topics Instagram thinks you’re interested in.
Users can now add, remove, or edit these interest tags to instantly reshape their recommendations. There’s also a search bar to manually type topics you want more or less of, making the Reels feed more personalized than before. The tool even lets you share your interest list to Stories.
Meta says the feature is powered by new AI systems designed to give users more transparency into how recommendations work. For now, it’s rolling out in the US first, with a wider English rollout planned later. Instagram also hinted that similar controls may come to the Explore page soon.
The update is Instagram’s latest step toward offering more user control as social platforms face pressure to reduce algorithmic opacity and repetitive feed loops.
