India Hits $1.53B in Smartphone Exports, US Receives Most

India Hits $1.53B

India has set a new milestone in its smartphone exports. According to the India Cellular and Electronics Association, exports in August 2025 touched 1.53 billion dollars, marking a sharp 39 percent growth compared to last year.

The United States emerged as the top destination, with shipments soaring to 965 million dollars, more than double the figure from August 2024. Over the five-month period from April to August, exports to the U.S. surged nearly 190 percent, climbing to 8.4 billion dollars from just 2.9 billion a year ago.

Industry experts say the spike is largely driven by Apple’s iPhone exports from India, supported by government incentives under the “Make in India” initiative. Analysts also point to manufacturers pushing shipments ahead of potential U.S. tariffs.

This record growth highlights India’s rising role as a global smartphone manufacturing hub, though concerns remain about tariff risks, supply chain pressures, and heavy reliance on premium models.

India’s smartphone success story is clear: from local assembly lines to international shelves, the country is rapidly becoming a powerhouse in global electronics trade.
