Galaxy Z TriFold Durability Fails: Snaps in JerryRigEverything Test

Galaxy Z TriFold

Samsung’s ambitious Galaxy Z TriFold, a premium triple-folding phone priced around $2,440 in Korea, has struggled in independent durability tests, with multiple prominent reports showing the device breaking under pressure during bend tests. These results have raised questions about the ruggedness of Samsung’s most radical folding design yet.

In a widely viewed durability video by YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, the Galaxy Z TriFold snapped almost immediately when pressure was applied the wrong way in the signature bend test making it reportedly the first Samsung phone to fail this kind of extreme structural assessment. Rather than withstanding the backwards flex, the ultra-thin frame and folding screens gave way, leaving the device permanently deformed.

Independent durability analyses have consistently highlighted multiple weak points in the TriFold’s build:

  • Structural fragility: The device’s complex two-hinge, triple-panel design can buckle aggressively under force, with one testing outlet reporting the screen and frame failed within seconds of bending pressure.
  • Dust and hinge issues: Tests involving sand and grit showed debris infiltrating the hinges, causing audible grinding and alignment problems, a notable concern for long-term robustness.
  • Screen vulnerability: Along with structural breakage, the expansive interior display is more susceptible to damage compared with traditional foldables, where scratches and pressure can quickly degrade performance.

The result stands in stark contrast to more mature Samsung foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which historically have survived similar torture tests with less catastrophic outcomes underscoring how multi-fold design complexity can amplify durability challenges.
