Bad News For Galaxy S26 Edge and S26 Plus

A new report that surfaced yesterday claims the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus will be virtually unchanged compared to its predecessor. According to the information, Samsung is sticking with the same 6.66-inch display size, overall design language, and general form factor. This suggests minimal external or ergonomic updates for the Plus model in 2026, continuing Samsung’s recent trend of conservative design updates for non-Ultra variants.

This development also aligns with earlier reports that Samsung has cancelled the rumored “Galaxy S26 Edge” model, which was expected to introduce a slimmer or more experimental design. With the Edge variant reportedly shelved, the Plus model appears to remain as the middle option in the lineup without major differentiation.

Galaxy S26 Series Pricing Strategy

Despite rising component costs across the industry including displays, memory, and AI-related hardware sources indicate that Samsung has decided to keep Galaxy S26 pricing unchanged from the previous generation.

The expected pricing structure is as follows:

  • Galaxy S26: $799
  • Galaxy S26 Plus: $999
  • Galaxy S26 Ultra: $1299

If accurate, this pricing stability could be seen as a strategic move to stay competitive against Apple, Xiaomi, and other premium Android manufacturers, especially as flagship phone prices continue to climb globally.

Galaxy AI: Subscription Model Clarified

Samsung has also updated its Galaxy AI terms and conditions, adding an important clarification about future AI features. The company confirmed that “Basic” Galaxy AI features will remain free, maintaining access to existing tools such as on-device assistance, smart suggestions, and select generative features.

However, Samsung warned that “Enhanced” Galaxy AI features, scheduled to launch later in 2026, may require a paid subscription. While Samsung has not yet revealed pricing or a feature list, this suggests a tiered AI strategy similar to what is emerging across the industry, where advanced AI tools are monetized separately.
