Apple’s streaming platform, Apple TV, faced a sudden outage late Thursday night, leaving thousands of viewers unable to access shows and movies. According to outage tracker Downdetector, over 15,000 users in the U.S. and Canada reported connection issues, playback failures, and “problem loading this content” errors.
The disruption began around 10:30 p.m. ET, shortly after the debut of Apple’s new original series Pluribus. Many users speculated that the surge in viewership following the show’s release may have overloaded Apple’s servers. Other Apple services, including Apple Music and Apple Arcade, also experienced brief slowdowns during the same period.
Apple later confirmed the issue on its System Status page, noting that services were temporarily unavailable but restored after a few hours. The company didn’t disclose the exact cause but stated that everything is now operating normally.
The brief outage highlights how streaming platforms can still face challenges managing peak traffic even those backed by tech giants like Apple. For now, Apple TV appears to be back online, with no further interruptions reported.
