Verizon Will Charge $10 a Month for iPhone Handoff, Twice T-Mobile’s Price

Verizon has confirmed that iPhone Handoff, the iOS 27 feature that lets one phone number work across two iPhones, will cost $10 a month. The price was announced on October 16 alongside Verizon’s iPhone Duo pre-orders, where Verizon says Handoff will be available on compatible iPhones running iOS 27 and is “coming soon.” It named the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro as examples but gave no launch date or full device list.

That is double what T-Mobile charges, and Apple has previously said Verizon would adopt the feature before the end of the year. At $10 a month, Handoff would add up to $120 a year, before taxes or any later price changes.

Handoff keeps your number active on only one iPhone at a time, and Verizon says customers can switch which phone is active at any time while keeping access to its 5G network. How the feature works matters here because the two phones don’t ring at the same time, so it isn’t a substitute for a second line.

The fee lands as Verizon pushes the iPhone Duo, which opens for pre-order on October 16 with wider availability on October 23, and the iPhone 18 Pro. Neither Verizon’s announcement nor MacRumors’ report mentions any plan that includes Handoff for free, as Telekom and EE do on some plans.

Still unconfirmed is the activation date, the complete list of eligible iPhones and plans, and whether any promotions will cover the fee. If you only swap phones occasionally, a regular eSIM transfer may be enough.
