The One UI 9 beta wave that swept through Samsung’s S25 and A-series lineup over the past few days has now reached the Galaxy S24 FE. Samsung has opened Beta 1 for the phone, running on firmware ending in ZZHL and weighing in at roughly 3.4GB, currently live for users in India and South Korea. A Samsung community post confirms the same build details and notes that more eligible markets could be added soon.
Getting in follows Samsung’s usual routine: open the Samsung Members app, look for the One UI 9 Beta banner, register, then head to Settings > Software update to download and install once it appears. This isn’t a rushed release either. An internal S24 FE build tied to One UI 9, tagged S721BXXUCEZF7, was already spotted on Samsung’s test servers back in June, though it was strictly a development build at the time rather than anything close to public testing. The move from that internal stage to an actual Beta 1 rollout took nearly three months.
The S24 FE arrives at the party a little after its siblings. The regular Galaxy S24, S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra picked up their first One UI 9 beta slightly earlier, in the US, India, South Korea, and the UK, on a somewhat heavier ~3.6GB package with firmware versions ending in ZZHL, EZHK, or EZHL depending on the market. That the base Galaxy S24 line got beta access before the FE variant isn’t unusual, Samsung typically staggers its beta rollouts by tier before folding in the more budget-friendly FE hardware.
Since this is a full One UI 9 build rather than an incremental One UI 8.5 patch, it carries the broader Android 17 changes Samsung has been rolling out across the lineup: a refreshed interface, new customization options, general performance tuning, tweaks to how system apps behave, and additional accessibility options. Samsung hasn’t put out an S24 FE-specific changelog yet, so it’s not clear exactly how much of what showed up on the Galaxy S26 in May carries over one-to-one to the FE hardware.
It’s still early-stage software, so the usual beta caveats apply, occasional bugs, battery inconsistencies, app compatibility hiccups, and features that might shift before the stable build lands. None of that is unusual for a Beta 1 release, and Samsung typically works through most of it across a handful of follow-up builds.
There’s no confirmed stable-release date for the S24 FE yet, and Samsung hasn’t said much beyond opening the program in India and Korea for now. But the S24 generation is covered under Samsung’s extended software-support policy, so this Android 17 upgrade is just one part of a much longer update runway for the phone, not a one-off release.
