Samsung is pushing out the August 2026 security patch to two of its mid-range phones this week, the Galaxy A57 in Europe and the Galaxy M56 in India, and the rollout is squarely about closing security gaps rather than adding anything new to the interface.
The A57 update carries firmware A576BXXS5AZH3 and weighs in around 385MB, with Samsung’s own update documentation confirming the patch is dated August 5, 2026. Over in India, the M56 is picking up firmware M566BXXS6CZH4 at roughly 318MB. Both updates trace back to the same monthly Android security patch, just packaged slightly differently for each device.
What’s actually inside is fairly straightforward. SamMobile reports the patch addresses dozens of security vulnerabilities identified in earlier software builds, but there’s no mention of new features, UI changes, or anything resembling a One UI update bundled in alongside it. If you’re expecting new functionality here, this isn’t that kind of release.
Worth separating clearly: this has nothing to do with One UI 9. The A57 is eligible for that upgrade later as part of Samsung’s commitment to six major OS updates and six years of security support on the device, but that’s a separate rollout entirely. This week’s update is purely the monthly patch, nothing more.
If you’re on either phone and want to check manually, head to Settings, Software update, Download and install, and Samsung will confirm whether it’s live for your specific model and region yet. Coverage is currently limited to Europe for the A57 and India for the M56, so if you’re outside those regions, patience is still the only option for now, Samsung hasn’t given a timeline for wider availability.
