Gaming phones are getting serious about battery life, and Lenovo just proved it. The Legion Phone Y70 new generation has quietly landed on Lenovo’s official Chinese store, and for a device sitting in the mid-to-upper gaming segment, it brings a spec sheet that’s hard to ignore. Shipments are scheduled to begin June 9, and if you’re in the market for a no-compromise Android gaming phone, this one deserves a close look.
Under the hood, Lenovo has gone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is exactly what you’d expect from a device wearing the Legion badge in 2026. The base configuration pairs it with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, reasonable headroom for heavy gaming titles and multitasking. The phone runs Android out of the box, and at 6.82 inches with an LED display, the screen real estate is generous enough for immersive gameplay without tipping into absurdity.

But the real story here is the battery. An 8,000mAh cell in a smartphone is a bold statement, and Lenovo backs it up with 90W wired charging, so you’re not stuck waiting half a day to top up before a session. The phone also brings triple protection certification GJB150, IP66, IP68, and IP69 which is unusually thorough for a gaming device and suggests Lenovo is pitching this beyond just couch gaming.
Camera duties are handled by a 50MP rear shooter and a 32MP front camera, while the device weighs in at 224 grams noticeable but expected given that monster battery. The two colorways on offer are Carbon Black and Ice White.
If you’re a mobile gamer in China who’s been waiting for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 to show up in a Legion device with serious endurance, the Y70 new generation is worth watching. Mark June 9 on your calendar.
