Motorola has started rolling out the stable Android 16 update to the Motorola Razr (2025), marking the device’s first major OS upgrade since launch. The update is also reaching the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025), with the rollout currently focused on US carrier models.
The update has been spotted on networks including Verizon and T-Mobile, and it is being delivered in phases, meaning availability will vary by region and carrier. Unlocked units may receive the update slightly later.
The firmware package is large around 4GB and brings the security patch level up to December 2025.

In terms of new features, Android 16 introduces refinements such as improved Bluetooth LE Audio support, a more expressive system design, and better foldable optimizations under Motorola’s My UX skin.
Users also gain tools like notification cooldown (which reduces alert spam), customizable focus modes, password-free hotspot sharing between devices on the same Google account, and enhanced security protections.
The timing is notable. Compared with earlier Razr generations, Motorola is delivering this update earlier in the device lifecycle, showing gradual improvement in its software support pace. Previous models often received major updates much later.
The Razr (2025) series launched with Android 15 and is promised three OS upgrades and four years of security updates, meaning Android 16 is the first of several planned updates.
