Apple has introduced its next-generation AirTag with key upgrades aimed at making it easier to find lost items. The new AirTag features a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip that enables Precision Finding from up to 50 % farther away than before, alongside an expanded Bluetooth range for improved locating performance.
Another big upgrade is the AirTag’s speaker, now about 50 % louder, making the audible alert easier to hear when searching for nearby items using the Find My app. For the first time, Precision Finding is also available on Apple Watch Series 9 and later or Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, allowing users to track items directly from their wrist.
The updated tracker retains the same form factor and pricing as the original $29 for one and $99 for a four-pack and remains compatible with existing accessories. Apple continues to prioritize privacy, with end-to-end encrypted Find My network communication and no stored location history on the device itself.
The new AirTag is available to order today on Apple’s online store and will arrive in Apple Store locations later this week.
