Galaxy S26 Ultra could come with the toughest Gorilla glass ever

Galaxy S26 Ultra

Reliable tipster Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S26 Ultra will debut a new generation of Gorilla Glass that is significantly tougher and more scratch-resistant than previous generations. This glass is rumored to be so durable against scratches and cracks that aftermarket tempered glass protectors may be unnecessary. The display may also include improved anti-reflective coatings and technologies like CoE non-polarised light to reduce glare without extra films.

Reports suggest the upgrades could eliminate multiple reasons users normally buy screen protectors: improved toughness, built-in anti-reflective and clarity enhancements, and even integrated privacy features at the glass level.

Privacy Display Feature

A Privacy Display feature has been spotted in One UI 8.5 code and leaks, indicating that Samsung is building native viewing-angle privacy into the S26 Ultra. This feature makes the screen harder to see from side angles, protecting information from shoulder-surfing similar to privacy screen protectors but implemented directly in hardware/software.

The Privacy Display toggle appeared in leaked One UI 8.5 screenshots within the Quick Settings panel, hinting the feature is fully integrated at the system level and will likely be accessible easily by users. It works by limiting screen visibility from angles outside the direct user view, making the display appear darker or obscured from the side.

Further leaks suggest the feature may work in conjunction with advanced panel tech called Flex Magic Pixel, which dynamically adjusts pixels to restrict viewing angles, and might even automatically activate in crowded places or for sensitive apps such as messaging or banking.

Early feedback from leaks notes that Privacy Display keeps content clear for the main user while making it nearly unreadable from side positions, this being powered by the underlying OLED technology.
