Multiple industry insiders and analysts (including Jeff Pu) say Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to debut in September 2026, likely alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at the company’s fall event.
Display Configuration

The foldable device will use a book-style foldable design (similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold line). It is widely tipped to have a ≈7.8-inch inner folding screen when open giving it a large tablet-like display surface. A 5.3-inch cover screen (external display) is also mentioned in the latest Jeff Pu note, although other sources have suggested a slightly larger ~5.5-inch outer panel.
Processor & Performance

According to the Jeff Pu investor briefing, the iPhone Fold will be powered by Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip built on TSMC’s advanced 2 nm (N2) fabrication process. The A20 Pro SoC is expected to be faster and more energy-efficient than previous Mac and iPhone chips, with improvements of up to ~15 % in speed and ~30 % in power efficiency compared to the earlier A19 generations. The chip may also leverage WMCM packaging technology, which integrates RAM directly onto the chip wafer along with CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine, boosting performance and thermal efficiency.
