
Major tech giants Apple and Google have officially announced a multi-year partnership under which Google’s Gemini AI models and cloud technology will power the next generation of Siri and future Apple Intelligence features. This marks a significant change in Apple’s AI strategy and confirms earlier speculation about Gemini’s role in Apple’s AI roadmap.

In a joint statement, Apple said that after a careful evaluation of several AI technologies, it determined Google’s technology provided “the most capable foundation” for its upcoming foundational models and intelligent assistant upgrades. These models will form the backbone of Apple Foundation Models, which are used across features including the revamped Siri due later in 2026.
