AT&T Announced A Major Partnership With Mitsubishi Motors

AT&T and Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) have announced a significant partnership to bring built-in 5G connectivity to Mitsubishi vehicles, beginning with the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV. This collaboration aims to enhance the in-car connected experience by using AT&T’s high-speed 5G network for navigation, entertainment, software updates, and more.

The deal centers on integrating AT&T’s 5G connectivity directly into Mitsubishi’s vehicles rather than relying on smartphone tethering. The 2026 Outlander will be the first model to receive embedded 5G, enabling features such as:

  • Real-time navigation with faster data speeds, giving drivers more accurate routing and traffic updates.
  • Enhanced infotainment options, including smoother streaming and online content access.
  • Over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing Mitsubishi to push system upgrades, security patches, and new features remotely without dealership visits.
  • Improved connectivity performance for both passengers and vehicle systems.

By embedding 5G into the Outlander’s architecture, Mitsubishi Connected Car Services can deliver faster software rollouts and more responsive support for drivers.

This partnership marks a major step in Mitsubishi’s connected vehicle strategy. According to Mitsubishi Motors North America, the collaboration with AT&T ensures vehicles are equipped with robust, future-ready technology that meets customer expectations for connectivity and digital features. Additional models beyond the Outlander are expected to adopt 5G connectivity in the future.

Why AT&T Was Chosen

AT&T’s 5G network provides nationwide coverage with low latency and high bandwidth, making it attractive for automotive connectivity solutions. The company already partners with multiple major automakers including Toyota, Ford, GM, Honda, and others to supply network services for connected car features like Wi-Fi hotspots, streaming services, navigation, and OTA updates.

Benefits of the Technology

Integrating AT&T’s 5G into vehicles offers several advantages:

  • Enhanced user experience: Passengers and drivers benefit from faster wireless connections for apps, media, and navigation.
  • Remote updates: OTA software delivery improves safety and performance without requiring dealership visits.
  • Future-proofed vehicles: Help support upcoming digital features, advanced driver assists, and vehicle-to-cloud services.
