TikTok has announced two new social features for its app Shared Feed and Shared Collections aimed at making content discovery more collaborative between friends and family. The update focuses on turning TikTok into a more shared experience rather than just solo scrolling.
The Shared Collections feature is now rolling out globally and allows users to create joint folders of saved videos with mutual followers. These shared folders can be used to organize content such as travel ideas, recipes, shopping inspiration, or project planning. Both users can add or remove videos, making it a collaborative space for content organization. The feature is available to users aged 16 and above.
Alongside this, TikTok is also testing a new Shared Feed feature, which will soon allow two users to browse a combined feed curated from both of their interests. The shared feed is created through direct messages, where one user invites the other to join. Once active, TikTok generates a daily selection of around 15 videos based on the viewing habits, likes, and interactions of both users. The goal is to surface content that both people are likely to enjoy.
TikTok says the shared feed will refresh daily and also include engagement indicators showing which videos both users liked. Unlike the standard endless For You feed, this shared version is designed as a limited, daily curated experience.
In addition to these features, TikTok is also adding a new greeting card option inside chats, allowing users to send animated message cards for special occasions and holidays.
The Shared Collections feature is already live, while the Shared Feed will roll out gradually over the coming months.
