Nothing has officially begun rolling out the stable Nothing OS 4.0 update, marking its biggest software release yet. The rollout kicked off on November 21, 2025, with the Nothing Phone (3) being the first device to receive the Android-16–based firmware.
Nothing OS 4.0 brings a refreshed UI, cleaner iconography, updated lock-screen styles, and a redesigned Quick Settings panel. Animation smoothness has also been noticeably improved, in line with the company’s minimalistic design philosophy.
A new Extra Dark Mode delivers deeper blacks system-wide, while multitasking gets a boost with support for dual floating windows. The update also introduces an AI Dashboard, offering transparency about on-device and cloud-based AI activity a first for Nothing.
Camera improvements include refined image processing and new creative presets, while the Glyph Interface on supported models gains upgraded live-update capabilities for deliveries, rides, and system alerts.
Nothing says the OS 4.0 rollout will expand to other devices including the Phone (3a), Phone (2), and Phone (2a) series in the coming weeks. The original Phone (1) remains outside the major-update roadmap, though the company hints at a separate support program.
The update is rolling out in phases, so availability may vary by region. Phone (3) owners have already begun receiving the OTA package, which weighs in at around 3GB.
