Apple has lost another key member of its growing AI team, as senior executive Ke Yang leaves the company to join Meta. Yang was recently leading Apple’s “Answers, Knowledge, and Information” team, a group responsible for improving Siri and building Apple’s own version of AI-powered web search.
His exit comes just weeks after he took on the role, marking yet another high-profile departure from Apple’s AI division. Over the past few months, several of Apple’s top AI engineers and researchers have been recruited by Meta, which has been aggressively expanding its AI talent pool with major compensation offers.
The timing isn’t ideal for Apple. The company is preparing a major Siri overhaul, expected in early 2026, that aims to bring more generative AI features to its ecosystem. Losing a leader from the core team behind that effort could slow progress or shift Apple’s AI roadmap.
For Meta, the hire strengthens its already fast-growing AI division as it continues to push Llama models and AI assistants across its platforms. The latest move underlines how intense the AI talent war between tech giants has become and how Apple’s low-key approach might be testing its ability to retain top minds.
